QResources is a creative endeavor offered by visual artist and art educator Damon Arhos.
About QResources
My name is Damon Arhos, and I am an artist and educator who lives and works in Washington, DC and Louisville, Kentucky. My artworks present portraits of identity as they reflect both queer experiences and cultural dichotomies. QResources evolved from my desire to offer, in association with my art practice, an online resource for art + queer culture. Over many months, I have collected, organized, and published links to various sources for LGBTQ+ information. I also have created an infrastructure for presenting this content in an organized way. I consider QResources as art in and of itself. I intend for this project to live and grow alongside my more traditional artistic endeavors.
This collection includes content categories (such as Museums & Galleries) that specifically access contemporary art as it relates to queer culture. However, it also maintains sets of information (such as Advocacy) that align with the conceptual intent of artists who work or have worked in this genre. Undoubtedly, the framework for presentation of QResources will evolve and change as new suggestions emerge and more knowledge is published.
My most ambitious desire for this process: to support the needs, activities, and aspirations of those seeking to elevate art + queer culture with positivity and optimism. I hope you find QResources entirely useful as you explore the many critical issues the collection presents. I also invite you to share any feedback or links as we collectively advance QResources in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
